Role Description
This is a full-time Commercial Account Handler role primarily based full time in the office in Doncaster, with the opportunity to work part of the week from home if required. The role involves managing a portfolio of commercial clients in conjunction with Account Executives, handling day-to-day queries, mid-term adjustments, and policy documentation. You will prepare and process renewals, obtain quotations from insurers, and recommend suitable cover options that are tailored to each client’s needs. The position includes liaising with insurers and underwriters, negotiating terms, and ensuring accurate records are maintained in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.
You will also support new business development activity, contribute to client retention initiatives, and collaborate closely with colleagues to deliver a consistent, high-quality service.
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial insurance and insurance brokerage, with a solid understanding of policy types, coverage terms, and market practices.
- Proficiency in renewals and account management, including maintaining client portfolios, preparing renewal strategies, and identifying cross-sell or up-sell opportunities.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build long‑term relationships, handle queries professionally, and communicate clearly by phone and in writing.
- Prior experience in a broking or commercial insurance environment (e.g., broker, account handler, or similar client‑facing role).
- Good numeracy, attention to detail, and confidence working with policy documentation and management systems.
- Ability to organize workload, meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with FCA‑regulated environments and compliance requirements is advantageous.
- CII qualifications (or progress toward them), knowledge of the UK commercial insurance market and a working knowledge of Acturis are desirable but not essential
