Overview

The Gynaecology Directorate is looking to appoint a full-time Consultant Subspecialist in Gynaecology Oncology. The successful candidate will join the Oncology Team which consists of a Subspecialist Gynaecology Oncologist, Oncology Unit Level Lead, and a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists. The Oncology service is a specialist Tertiary Centre and currently provides services at Wolverhampton and Dudley.

The candidate will be expected to be an active member of the Gynaecological oncology team in clinic, the ward and operating theatres. Participation in the (on-call) Gynaecology rota is expected. Evidence of experience in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques and supra-radical surgery in Gynaecological oncology would be highly desirable. The post will have 10 programmed activities (PAs) but further PAs are negotiable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Clinical Consultations for Oncology Patients at Wolverhampton and at our Tertiary Centres.
  • Provide Surgical interventions for complex Oncology Cases.
  • Partake in MDT Meetings.
  • In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to provide a service in Gynaecological Oncology.
  • In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.
  • With the existing Consultants, to maintain the department's regional reputation as the leading provider for robotic surgery in Gynaecology Oncology.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Evidence of experience in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques and supra-radical surgery in Gynaecological oncology would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a tertiary centre setting.
  • Participation in on-call rosters and MDT activities.
