We are excited to be developing our nursing provision for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology services and have Band 5 vacancies within our inpatient area. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals who are passionate in caring for children with cancer to join and enhance our team.

Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) is the Primary Treatment Centre for children aged 0‑16, who require care in all aspects of haematology/oncology throughout the East of England region. The care provided includes delivering chemotherapy, radiotherapy, Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and end‑of‑life care when indicated. CUH also participates in a range of national research trials and studies to develop the care for future generations.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 nurse, you will be responsible for competently providing safe and effective care to children, whilst in hospital with various haematological and oncological conditions. You will need to be able to assess their care needs, as well as plan, implement and evaluate care given. Furthermore, you will also participate in the supervision and teaching of unqualified and qualified staff. As a Band 5 you will also develop your own skills in the safe administration of medication via various routes, including the administration of chemotherapy as a senior Band 5 nurse, alongside taking charge of the ward.

We actively encourage our staff to develop and offer numerous opportunities to extend your skills and experience within this speciality. Opportunities include delivering Systemic Anti Cancer Therapies (SACT), high‑dependency care, bone‑marrow transplantation and further oncology care.
