We are seeking highly motivated and experienced cancer nurses to join our Oncology inpatient ward team at UCLH. We are looking for professionals who are dedicated and have excellent communication skills. You will be welcomed into our large oncology multi-disciplinary team.

We look for innovative cancer nurses with the ability to problem solve, demonstrate leadership, and be motivated to support the ward sisters in clinical audit and research as well as role modelling and supporting junior team members and students. At UCLH we provide highly specialised cancer care for oncology patients with a wide range of solid tumours; we are one of two cancer centres in London offering specialised care to sarcoma patients. We are also supported with specialist staff to provide training in palliative and end of life care.

The Oncology inpatient service has 52 beds across T13 and T16, and a Cancer Assessment Unit that provides rapid access assessment and treatment for Oncology patients.

Main duties of the job:

Our inpatient unit includes 3 oncology wards with a total of 54 beds, which provide a variety of treatments including:

  • Cytotoxic chemotherapy
  • Trial treatments
  • Biological therapies
  • Radiotherapy
  • Brachytherapy
  • Radioisotope treatments
  • Palliative care including complex symptom management and end of life care

We also have a Cancer Assessment Unit providing same day rapid assessment and treatment to Oncology patients. The Cancer Assessment Unit operates between Monday and Friday 08.00 - 20.00.

The area actively supports nurse-led activities and research and offers genuine opportunities for professional and personal development. Funding is available for diploma and degree pathways within the speciality alongside in-house ward-based teaching sessions and an internal rotational programme is offered.
