Applications are invited for a 10PA Consultant in Paediatric Oncology at Nottingham University Hospitals. This is a substantive post representing expansion of the paediatric oncology team. Our East Midlands Children's and Young Person's Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS) is a two site principal treatment centre for malignant haematology based across Nottingham and Leicester and takes approximately 140 new malignant patients each year. We are a Tessa Jowell Centre of Excellence for neuro-oncology. The post is Nottingham based, but with links via a shared MDT. Our inpatient unit houses a teenage cancer trust area, adjacent daycare facilities with a theatre room and access to paediatric intensive care on the same corridor.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful applicant will work as part of the consultant team to provide inpatient care to the oncology and haematology service on a 1 in 7.5 service week basis.
- Specific responsibilities for new referrals with solid tumours and brain tumours and late effects.
- The current vacancy is for an oncologist covering solid tumours, brain tumours and late effects.
- We care for patients post autologous stem cell transplant but allogeneic transplants occur in Sheffield.
It is essential that applicants have specific training in paediatric oncology, are fully registered with the GMC with entry to the specialist register for paediatric oncology (or the expectation of award of CCT within 6 months of interview).
