Full-Time On-site
O

Based in the heart of London and LA, Once Upon a Time is an integrated marketing & content agency that builds brands and creates end-to-end campaigns for our clients. We know how to speak to the people that can't wait to indulge in movies, TV, games, consumer products and music. We're much more than an agency - we're an extension of our clients' teams.

From strategy, to creative, to production, to media, we handle it all. We conceive it. We design it. We make it. We place it.

We sweat the small stuff and the big stuff, across sector and craft, to deliver more of the world-class content everyone loves.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented and creatively driven Midweight Key Art Designer to join our creative team.

The successful candidate will have experience working across entertainment design and a strong portfolio demonstrating key art, campaign creative and image-led design work across film, television or streaming.

This is a hands-on design role for someone with strong Photoshop skills, a good eye for composition and typography, and the ability to develop creative ideas from brief through to final execution.

A large amount of the role will be working on Netflix on-platform creative (a mixture of conceptual and stills-based concepts). So, we are looking for someone who has a good eye for extracting moments from content that adhere to the brief and land clear genre cues to work effectively on platform.

You will work closely with Senior Designers, Creative Directors, Producers and the wider studio team, contributing to a range of entertainment campaigns while continuing to develop your conceptual and technical skills.

We are an exciting, bustling studio that works collaboratively. Therefore, we require the right candidate to deliver quality, speed and have a can-do attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop key art concepts and campaign creative for film, television and entertainment projects.
  • Work from creative briefs to produce visually strong and engaging design routes.
  • Create compositions using photography, supplied assets, typography, illustration and image manipulation.
  • Support the development of concepts from initial idea through to final artwork.
  • Produce creative work across theatrical, streaming, digital, social, OOH and print formats.
  • Carry out image retouching, compositing and visual enhancements to a high standard.
  • Develop multiple creative routes in response to briefs and internal feedback.
  • Take direction from Senior Designers and Creative Directors and implement feedback effectively.
  • Work closely with Producers, Account Teams and Production teams to ensure work is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all creatives follow the client brand guidelines, campaign requirements and technical specifications.
  • Maintain organised working files and follow agreed studio processes.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines within a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Contribute ideas during internal creative reviews and team discussions.
  • Keep up to date with developments in entertainment marketing, design, typography, photography and visual trends.
  • Continue to develop technical and conceptual skills with support from senior members of the team.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working as a Designer or Midweight Designer within an entertainment, creative or advertising agency.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating key art, entertainment campaigns or high-quality image-led design.
  • Strong Adobe Photoshop skills, particularly in compositing, retouching and image manipulation.
  • Good understanding of typography, layout, colour and composition.
  • Experience working with photography and supplied creative assets.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop ideas from an initial creative brief.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Comfortable receiving creative feedback and developing work accordingly.
  • A proactive and positive approach to working within a team.
  • Experience with Netflix tools and on-platform workflow.
  • Experience working with film studios, broadcasters or streaming platforms.
  • Experience across theatrical, streaming, home entertainment, social or digital campaigns.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Experience using AI-assisted creative tools as part of concept development.
  • An understanding of motion design or After Effects would be advantageous but is not essential.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a strong visual eye, good technical ability and a real enthusiasm for entertainment design.

You should be comfortable developing creative ideas independently while also working closely with more senior members of the team to refine and elevate your work.

This role would suit someone who has already built a solid foundation in key art and entertainment design and is now looking to take on greater creative responsibility, strengthen their conceptual thinking and progress towards a Senior Designer role.

You should be collaborative, organised and keen to learn, with a genuine passion for film, television, visual storytelling and creating high-quality campaign work.
