About the Role: Trading is the engine that drives marketplace growth. This role sits at the front of that engine by ensuring our catalogue is accurate, competitive and ready to convert. By leading seller data quality and uncovering the trading gaps that impact price, range, visibility and conversion, the Seller Trading Manager unlocks seller performance and powers high‑quality, profitable growth. Their insights directly move GMV, strengthen contribution, and fuel the flywheel of buyer satisfaction and seller success across all markets. The Seller Trading Manager owns the quality, competitiveness and visibility of our marketplace catalogue across the UK and International Markets. The primary responsibility is to ensure seller data is accurate, enriched and fit for purpose, and to turn that high‑quality data into clear, actionable trading insights. This role does not directly execute seller‑facing actions. Instead, it generates a structured pipeline of opportunities e.g. content fixes, pricing gaps, availability issues, GTIN/GS1 integrity, search visibility improvements that are passed to Seller Success and Sales to activate in line with our Lead Scoring Methodology.
What you’ll own:
- Catalogue Quality Leadership: End‑to‑end governance of seller data quality across regions; enforce accept/optimise/suppress/return rules and uphold gold standards for images, titles, attributes, GTINs/GS1, encoding, and de‑duplication.
- Taxonomy & Mapping: Define and maintain taxonomy, category hierarchy, product mapping, and catalogue segmentation; ensure international readiness (language, symbols, encoding).
- Trading Insights: Analyse visibility, search rank, competitiveness, conversion, GMC health, and availability; generate structured opportunity packets (issue, action, size of prize) for Seller Success & Sales; prioritise via Trading Score, Lead Score, and propensity signals.
- Search & Discoverability: Remove ghost products and fix mis‑categorisation; improve search/browse relevance through data and mapping; set surfacing/suppression/boosting rules based on competitiveness and data quality; partner with Buyer Experience & Tech on ranking logic and filters.
- Pricing Accuracy & Competitiveness: Maintain accurate regional pricing; detect market misalignment; segment inventory (KVI, premium, long‑tail, substitution‑sensitive); surface pricing‑led trading actions for commercial teams.
- Feature Brand Management (UK/EU): Ensure top brands meet standards for content, GTINs, compliance; lift visibility and conversion using data signals; collaborate with Marketing on discovery, merchandising, and campaigns.
- GMC Readiness: Guarantee catalogue compliance with Google Merchant Center requirements; reduce disapprovals, grow impression share, and mine GMC data for further optimisation.
Experience & Skills:
- Marketplace or eCommerce trading, category management, or product data operations experience.
- Deep understanding of product data structures, taxonomy, attributes, GTINs and GS1 standards.
- Hands‑on experience with search systems (e.g., Solr), GMC, feed management and competitive pricing.
- Analytical capability with the ability to translate signals into actionable insights.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to influence cross‑functional teams.
- High attention to detail with strong commercial judgement.
- Experience driving outcomes through others (not direct line execution).
Benefits:
- Company Equity – In return for helping us to grow, we’ll offer you company equity, meaning you own a piece of this business we are all working so hard to build.
- 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
- 1 extra day off for your Birthday
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Perks at Work benefit platform
- Opportunities for career development and progression
- Remote or Hybrid – Manchester or Bournemouth
