On Track Education provides specialist education for young people with diverse and complex needs. Established in 2004 by a dedicated team of Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers, we now operate nine independent schools across England. At the heart of our philosophy is a commitment to providing a nurturing, personalised, and needs-led educational experience, aiming to restore young people’s self-confidence and self-motivation through flexible programmes that combine academic, vocational, and outdoor learning opportunities.

On Track Totnes is a DfE-registered co-educational day school which provides specialist education for pupils aged 11-19 years across two well-equipped sites in South Devon. Designed for students with a range of special educational needs, the school delivers small group and one-to-one learning within a nurturing, therapeutic environment. Its broad and balanced curriculum is underpinned by the principles of THRIVE® and tailored to develop emotional well-being, resilience and real-world skills. With strong, supportive relationships between staff and pupils, On Track Totnes helps every young person to thrive, both in learning and in life.

We are looking for a dedicated and engaging Tutor who can deliver high-quality teaching and support across a broad curriculum. Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking subject teaching responsibility across the curriculum, ensuring pupils build knowledge and skills that lead to meaningful progress.
  • Planning and delivering an inspiring, high-quality curriculum that supports pupils to enjoy learning, achieve well, and move confidently towards clearly defined end points.
  • Teaching clear, structured lessons that embed key concepts in pupils’ long-term memory and support outstanding progress.
  • Setting personalised learning targets for each pupil, considering prior attainment, individual needs, and their broader developmental goals.
  • Working collaboratively with the Head Teacher and leadership team to deliver a curriculum that builds knowledge systematically and meets the needs of all pupils.
  • Regularly assessing and monitoring pupil understanding, using assessment outcomes to inform teaching and guide timely, targeted interventions.
  • Planning with a clear focus on the SEN for each pupil, creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences that support both academic and personal development.

You’ll be someone who thrives in a supportive, SEN-focused environment and brings creativity, resilience and commitment to everything you do. Ideally, you will:

  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE preferred) with proven teaching experience.
  • Have evidence of recent planning and teaching to GCSE level.
  • Have experience working in an SEN setting and understand the importance of a flexible, pupil-centred approach.
  • Be skilled in planning and delivering curriculum content using a variety of teaching styles and methods to engage and inspire diverse learners.
  • Show commitment to inclusive practice, positive behaviour management, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Hold a full driving licence and have access to your own car, as the role involves travel between school sites, including the satellite base, and delivering 1:1 outreach across South Devon.
  • Teaching early literacy would be an advantage.

Salary & Benefits: £25,920 - £36,300 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience. Free eye tests and flu jabs.

Working hours: Full time hours: Monday to Friday, between 8.15am and 4.45pm. Completed application forms must be submitted by 30th January 2026. Please note that applications will be viewed on receipt and we reserve the right to close the role early.
