As a Senior Digital Workplace Engineer, you will take full ownership of the life cycle, strategy, and operational excellence for On The Beach's critical SaaS capabilities, including Atlassian (Jira/Confluence), Google Workspace, Jumpcloud, Cisco Umbrella, Gemini, NotebookLM, AppSheet, and AppScript. You will drive the evolution of this portfolio as internal products, focusing on delivering maximum colleague productivity, security, and value through feature road mapping, vendor management, and internal advocacy. You will provide technical and strategic leadership, mentor the digital workplace team, and define the future direction of our enterprise application portfolio.

What You’ll Be Doing Day To Day

  • SaaS Product Strategy & Ownership: Own the product vision, roadmap, and service lifecycle for a portfolio of critical SaaS products. Serve as the primary subject matter expert and product owner for the assigned SaaS capabilities. Translate business needs into platform features, balancing security, operational cost, and user experience. Manage vendor relationships, license consumption, and contractual agreements for platforms.
  • Platform Engineering & Integration: Lead the architectural design and integration of SaaS products with enterprise systems using APIs and scripting. Drive sophisticated automation across the SaaS portfolio to improve colleague workflows and team efficiency. Evaluate and implement AI-powered productivity tools and capabilities into the workflow. Ensure all platforms are configured and managed to meet security, governance, and compliance standards.
  • Operational Excellence & Improvement: Define and champion best practices and standards for SaaS platform operations and service management. Lead documentation efforts, ensuring knowledge is accessible and current for all owned services. Utilize platform analytics to measure adoption, satisfaction, and value, driving continuous improvement initiatives. Lead incident response and root cause analysis for platform outages, driving systemic improvements.
  • Leadership, Mentorship & Influence: Provide technical and strategic leadership for the team and cross-functional initiatives. Collaborate with InfoSec on implementing security controls and with Platform Engineering on infrastructure requirements. Mentor L1 and L2 engineers in product ownership, technical excellence, and platform management. Influence the enterprise application roadmap based on stakeholder needs and emerging technologies.
  • Service & Incident Management: Provide expert support, troubleshooting, and resolution for platform-related incidents and colleague service requests to minimise disruption. Triage, prioritise, and manage the queue of support tickets across the SaaS portfolio, ensuring timely and clear communication to stakeholders. Drive proactive problem management by identifying and resolving recurring root causes to improve platform reliability and reduce incident volume.

You’ll be a great addition to our team if you have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • SaaS Platform Management: Deep expertise in the administration, security, and governance of key SaaS platforms, specifically Google Workspace, Atlassian, and security/network tooling.
  • Automation & Development: Advanced scripting and API usage for platform integration. Proficiency with low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Architecture & Design: Experience architecting secure, scalable SaaS integrations. Understanding of zero-trust networking, security architectures, and service management.
  • Emerging Tech: Familiarity with emerging AI/ML capabilities and productivity tools and how to integrate them into the platform portfolio.
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead platform projects involving multiple teams. Strong product ownership mindset, making technical decisions considering trade-offs and business impact. Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Customer-focused approach ensuring colleague productivity and a great digital experience.

What To Expect From Our Interview Process: We’ll start with a call with our Talent team and then run a 3 stage interview process, the final stage of which will be an in-person interview at our Aeroworks office in Manchester city centre. We want to make sure everybody has the opportunity to perform at their best. Ways of working: Our full time hours are 37.5 per week, but we don’t have rigid working hours so you can find the working pattern that’s right for you. We have core working hours between 10am - 4pm, so we can collaborate and enjoy the social side of work. We also have hybrid working so we all work from home and from our Aeroworks office in Manchester City Centre. As a team we are in the office 3 days per week.
