Housing Advisor Homelessness Local Authority East of England 23+ per Hour (negotiable depending on experience) Hybrid working available 3 months initial contract likely to be extended.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To provide specialist and comprehensive housing advice and options to members of the public and delivering the Council's statutory homelessness functions, focussed on preventing and relieving homelessness while managing expectations.
  • The post holder will assess customers' needs and housing options, agreeing these in the form of a personal housing plan. For customers who are threatened with homelessness, this will mean working to prevent homelessness or identify alternative housing options.
  • The post holder will be responding to immediate homelessness situations and arranging placement in emergency accommodation. Where a homeless application is triggered, the post holder will make key decisions about whether the Council's statutory duties have been discharged and issue formal decision notifications.

You must have:

  • Legislation and guidance pertaining to homelessness, housing, social housing allocations and associated public sector provisions.
  • Experience of working directly within a local authority.
