Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years, in line with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted requirements.
- Provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors at all times.
- Deliver an appropriate play based EYFS curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
- Plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the Early Learning outcomes.
- Develop partnerships with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents to increase involvement in their child's development.
- Be a key person, ensuring records are maintained sufficiently to inform of progress against the Early Learning goals, including observations, assessments, daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments.
- Understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.
- Ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
- Help to ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
- Undertake designated officer roles as directed.
- Work together with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families.
- Work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the nursery lead, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience Required:
- Knowledge and proven experience of working with children age 0-5 years.
- Empathy and understanding of children under five years of age.
- Excellent working knowledge of the EYFS and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
- Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
- A commitment to quality in all areas, with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm.
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal.
- The ability to be innovative and creative.
- The ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records, with administrative and basic IT skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Excellent organisational, motivational and negotiation skills.
- Reliable, flexible and able.
- A calm and caring nature.
- A creative thinker with a good sense of humour.
- Able to commit with the ability to perform under stress.
- Able to make decisions and be accountable with the ability to work at all levels.
- A level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification is required for this role.
