Position Summary: The Account Director will lead a high-profile global partnership portfolio, overseeing PR, social media, and partnership activation across golf and racket sports, as well as Arts & Culture initiatives. This role will manage year-round content publishing, social channel strategy, and global comms planning and execution, ensuring integration across Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned channels. The Account Director will also oversee the delivery of multi-market PR and social activation plans for major sporting events, working closely with client stakeholders, rights holders, and ambassadors to drive reach and engagement in line with the client’s global brand positioning.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the development and delivery of an annual global communications and social strategy across golf, racket sports, and Arts & Culture initiatives, aligned to the client’s overarching brand campaign and tone of voice.
    • Oversee a year-round content calendar across owned partnership social channels, balancing golf and racket sports storytelling with cultural moments and always-on content (including Arts & Culture when relevant).
    • Ensure all comms and publishing plans are fully integrated across global Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned channels.
    • Provide strategic counsel to the client on partnership amplification, brand storytelling, and content innovation.
  • Social Media & Content
    • Manage and optimise global sport social channels, ensuring content is on-brand, accessible, and strategically scheduled.
    • Lead ideation and content creation for cultural moments (e.g. International Women’s Day, Pride, Lunar New Year) as well as key sporting milestones.
    • Oversee community management and moderation in partnership with governance and monitoring teams.
    • Work with production partners and internal teams to deliver high-quality creative assets for global distribution.
  • PR & Partnerships
    • Develop and execute PR strategies for each partnership in the portfolio, from event-specific comms to ambassador-led campaigns.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with rights holders, athletes/ambassadors, media, and global market teams.
    • Provide on-site comms leadership at major events, including media management and live content amplification.
    • Ensure local market activation is supported through toolkits, briefing sessions, and ongoing liaison with regional teams.
  • Reporting & Evaluation
    • Oversee weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on PR and social performance.
    • Use data and insights to optimise future campaigns and demonstrate ROI.
    • Ensure measurement frameworks align with the client’s global brand tracking and reporting systems.
  • Team & Client Management
    • Manage a multi-disciplinary agency team, ensuring high-quality delivery across workstreams.
    • Act as the key day-to-day senior contact for the client, fostering a trusted partnership.
    • Oversee budget management, quarterly reviews, and resource planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant agency or client-based experience across PR and Communications.
  • Specific experience in amplifying sport partnerships; working closely with rights holders and ambassadors.
  • Knowledge and expertise across a variety of sports.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional understanding of how to build a client relationship and understand their business needs.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of client-service deliverables through critical path planning and resource management to maintain high quality output.
  • Record of developing and implementing marketing programs with a cross-functional team.
  • In-depth knowledge and network of sport media and journalists.
  • Natural communication skills to inspire and nurture a team whilst maintaining agency culture.
  • Excellent writing skills to draft media materials, toolkits and proposals whilst managing team development of copy writing and plan writing skills.
  • Track record of developing creative ideas and content to deliver against earned and owned channel objectives.
  • Strong understanding of digital landscape with experience in building and executing against social strategy.
  • Organised and detail oriented in a fast-paced, client service environment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
  • Excellent time management, written and oral communication skills.

Compensation and Working Conditions

  • This is a permanent position.
  • Competitive salary and benefits available on application.
  • Role will be based at 160over90’s City Road, London office.
  • Working hours are 9:00 – 17:00, Monday - Friday.
  • Occasional travel and weekend work may be required.
