The Role: As a Placement Draftsperson, you will play a crucial role in translating design concepts into precise technical documentation for our exhibition stands and scenic projects. Working closely with our Project Managers, clients, the Head of Fabrication, and our in-house workshop team, your responsibilities will include:
- 3D Modelling and Drawing Production: Utilising SolidWorks, you will create detailed 3D models and a comprehensive range of 2D drawings.
- Construction Drawings: Providing clear and accurate instructions for our workshop team, tailored for efficient and robust exhibition stand and scenic item fabrication.
- Cutting Lists: Detailing material requirements for precise and cost-effective production.
- Ballooned Reference Drawings: Clearly identifying components for seamless assembly on-site or in the workshop.
- Exploded Views: Illustrating assembly sequences and component relationships for complex builds.
- CNC Router Parts Drawings: Producing accurate 2D drawings specifically for use with our CNC router, ensuring precise cutting of various materials.
Design Interpretation: Working from initial sketches, client-supplied visuals, and technical specifications to develop accurate and practical designs that meet both aesthetic and structural requirements for exhibition stands and scenic elements.
Design & Build Method Collaboration: Proactively collaborating with the Head of Fabrication and the workshop team to agree upon optimal design and build methods.
Drawing for Outsourced Fabrication: Producing precise technical drawings specifically for external suppliers, primarily for metalwork fabrication, but potentially other specialist components for exhibition stands and scenic items.
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual with:
- A strong understanding of technical drawing principles and conventions.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and 2D drawing production.
- Knowledge of VCarve Pro advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to interpret and translate conceptual ideas into practical designs for exhibition and scenic environments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including skilled fabricators.
- A keen interest in exhibition design, scenic construction, and the practicalities of bringing creative visions to life.
