The Specification Technologist will be a key part of our growing Technical team, working from our purpose-built production facility in Middlesbrough. The successful candidate will provide support in driving continuous improvement and provide guidance to onsite teams with adherence to relevant standards, company policies and legal requirements.
What you will do:
- Stay updated on and interpret legislative food safety and packaging regulations to ensure that our food-to-go products meet all relevant regulatory requirements, including labelling, packaging, and nutritional information.
- Review and analyse technical specifications related to food production processes and packaging.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, product safety data and compliance certificates.
- React to customer and internal queries relating to product packaging components.
- Work closely with product development, quality assurance, procurement, and production teams to integrate compliance considerations into the entire food manufacturing process.
- Provide guidance on compliance requirements to relevant teams and assist with ingredient and product queries.
- Support the technical team with specification, artwork, and cutter guide completion.
About you:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of food packing regulations and standards.
- Experience of retailer specifications and systems, along with retailer artwork.
- Experience of managing the process of artwork approval.
- Experience of liaising with external customers and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
