At On A Roll Sandwich Company, we’ve always focused on making great food, with quality driven by pride, care, and attention to detail. We are seeking an experienced Senior Specifications Technologist to join our passionate, hardworking team in this newly created on-site role. You will support our NPD and Technical teams, managing the product development journey from concept to creation, ensuring ingredients, packaging, and suppliers are approved, and that raw materials, finished product specifications, and artwork meet our high standards.
On-site, you’ll also have access to our canteen offering discounted hot meals and freshly made sandwiches.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the creation, review, and approval of internal and customer specifications, ensuring a right-first-time approach.
- Approve ingredients, packaging, and service suppliers, conducting regular supplier reviews.
- Collaborate with NPD, supply chain, and production teams to ensure data accuracy and compliance for raw materials, specifications, and artwork.
- Participate in benchmarking, taste panels, production trials, and first production runs, reporting findings and closing out issues.
- Maintain compliance documentation using bespoke databases and Excel, following all BRC, HACCP, and company health & safety requirements.
- Provide general administrative support as needed to ensure smooth technical operations.
About you:
- Food-related qualification from college or university, with 2 years experience leading a specifications team, including HR processes (absence, PDPs, performance management).
- Industry-recognised legal labelling qualification and experience with retailer specification databases/portals.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Flexible, hard-working, and positive attitude.
