We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our small engineering team at our purpose-built Middlesbrough food manufacturing facility, equipped with modern machinery. You will be skilled in finding and rectifying faults on busy production lines, conducting planned and preventative maintenance, and working on a variety of equipment, including flow wrappers and ultrasonic cutters. You will mainly work in a two-person team, liaising with production, hygiene, and technical departments, handling general plant upkeep, breakdowns, and site repairs. The factory operates 7 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays, so flexibility to work outside regular hours is essential.
What You Will Be Doing
- Carry out routine and reactive maintenance on equipment and facilities, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, following PPM schedules.
- Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, providing expertise and support as needed.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and hygiene on a busy food manufacturing site.
- Update and manage PPM records, ensuring accountability for assigned jobs.
- Identify and implement improvements to equipment and processes.
About You
- Mechanical and Electrical engineering experience with relevant engineering qualifications; FMCG maintenance experience desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of H&S and food safety legislation; 17th/18th edition desirable.
- Experience with Flow Wrap equipment is an advantage.
- Flexible to work a Friday-Monday shift (42 hours/week) with occasional holiday cover.
