We are now looking to recruit a Maintenance Fitter. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a global company with development opportunities.
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and electronic equipment, as well as minor modifications to existing systems, following established procedures. The Maintenance Fitter will ensure the functioning of plant processing equipment by conducting mechanical maintenance tasks. This 8 hours role involves working with a variety of machinery, performing inspections, repairs, modifications, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, inspect, repair, modify, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment including belt and chain elevators, conveyors, crushers, classifiers, screens, pressure systems, and other plant machinery.
- Perform planned mechanical inspections and report equipment conditions for further evaluation.
- Engage in equipment fabrication as needed and operate powered industrial vehicles safely.
- Undertake basic electrical maintenance tasks as required, under supervision initially.
- Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking jobs, documenting hours, and reporting job statuses.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury work environment.
- Conduct pre-job risk assessments daily and participate actively in monthly safety meetings.
- Comply with Quality System Manual procedures and ensure safe working conditions.
- Be prepared to enter confined spaces following relevant training.
- Maintain regular communication with other departments regarding job status, projected timelines, and any necessary assistance.
- Inform supervisors of any modifications required for the CMMS plans, task sheets, or Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Experience/skills & competencies:
- Proven industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
- Proven experience with the repair and maintenance of mechanical devices.
- High mechanical aptitude and a deep understanding of mechanical maintenance procedures.
- Proficiency with crushing, grinding, and conveying machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
- Competence in machinist tasks, heavy equipment maintenance, pipe fitting, and general maintenance.
- Familiarity with personal computers and data entry processes.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Undertake basic electrical maintenance tasks as required, under supervision initially.
- Proficiency with crushing, grinding, and conveying machinery.
