We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take full ownership of a growing online furniture business operating across multiple UK marketplaces. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can manage and scale a multi-channel e-commerce operation end-to-end — from inventory and fulfilment through to marketplace performance, commercial strategy, and customer experience.
Location: Pocklington, YO42 1NS | Salary: £36,000–£45,000 | Full-time
- Business & Operations Management
- Take full ownership of daily business operations across all departments
- Improve operational performance, processes, and workflows company-wide
- Work closely with marketing, finance, customer service, and supply chain teams
- Prepare operational reports, KPIs, and performance updates for the Managing Director
- Marketplace & Commercial Operations
- Manage operations across UK marketplaces including Amazon, Wayfair, The Range, B&Q, eBay and other platforms
- Develop and implement strategies for online merchandising, pricing, and promotions to maximise sales and customer satisfaction
- Ensure operational readiness to support campaigns, promotions, and peak periods
- Inventory, Logistics & Suppliers
- Monitor inventory levels using inventory control systems
- Oversee stock availability, replenishment, and forecasting
- Manage fulfilment, warehousing, and logistics partners
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favourable terms while maintaining strong professional relationships
- Finance & Administration
- Manage operational financial processes including payroll coordination, bookkeeping support, cash flow oversight, and POS/order management systems
- Assist with budgeting, cost control, and operational planning
- Ensure accurate records and smooth operational systems
- Team Management & Development
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and employee training
- Develop team capabilities across online sales operations, customer service, and marketplace processes
- Manage schedules, workloads, and performance across teams
- Customer Experience & Compliance
- Ensure high standards of customer service, delivery performance, and returns handling
- Handle operational escalations and problem resolution
- Ensure compliance with company policies, marketplace requirements, and health & safety standards
- Maintain safe, organised, and compliant operational environments
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager (or similar) within an e-commerce / online marketplace business
- Hands-on experience managing marketplaces such as Amazon, Wayfair, The Range, B&Q, eBay
- Experience managing end-to-end operations for an online retail business
- Strong understanding of multi-channel operations, including inventory, logistics, and fulfilment
- Experience using Linnworks (or similar multi-channel inventory/order management systems)
- Experience managing teams, suppliers, and operational performance
- Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Commercial mindset with the ability to drive improvements and results
- Comfortable reporting directly to senior management / Managing Director
