Role Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving retailer performance and commercial compliance across the network. The role focuses on optimizing finance floorplan utilisation, ensuring adherence to brand standards, leading composite performance reviews, and strengthening the effectiveness of the Used Car Programme. The position plays a key role in improving retailer profitability, consistency, and brand representation.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct reviews with dealer partners on marketing and sales spend and effectiveness.
- Challenge dealers on quarterly marketing budgets and marketing spend.
- Monitor co-funding and retailer marketing contributions where applicable.
- Aid in developing and delivering the UK retail marketing strategy aligned with brand, sales, and commercial objectives.
- Translate campaigns into effective local retail activation programmes.
- Support product launches, model refreshes, and tactical sales initiatives at the retail level.
- Coordinate with central marketing, sales, aftersales, and finance teams.
- Act as the primary marketing contact for the designated region.
- Provide guidance, toolkits, and best practices to improve local marketing effectiveness.
- Drive consistent brand standards across all retailer marketing touchpoints.
- Support retailers with local campaign planning, budget allocation, and performance review.
Performance & Analytics
- Track and analyse retail marketing performance using KPIs such as leads, conversions, showroom traffic, and ROI.
- Use insights to optimise future campaigns and improve retailer effectiveness.
- Prepare regular reports and recommendations for senior management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail or field marketing within the automotive industry.
- Understanding of OEM-retailer operating models in the UK.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using marketing performance data.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK.
- Experience working for an OEM or a large dealer group.
- Knowledge of digital retailing, lead management, and CRM platforms.
