We are partnered with a fast-scaling Technology & AI Institute reimagining how modern engineers are trained, deployed, and continuously developed across cloud, software engineering, and DevOps disciplines. This is not a traditional instructor role. You’ll start by shaping how the next generation of engineers learn their craft, focusing on how real-world systems are designed, built, and operated in modern organisations. The emphasis is on practical engineering capability: understanding how software is delivered into production, how teams collaborate, and how modern engineering organisations actually function at scale.
Alongside this, you’ll be embedding AI into the way engineers work from day one, from AI-assisted development and automated testing through to intelligent monitoring and AI-supported operations. The goal is to ensure graduates are not just technically competent, but fluent in how modern engineering is increasingly AI-augmented in practice. Then the role evolves. As engineers move into client environments, you remain closely connected, refining the learning experience based on what succeeds and what breaks in real-world delivery. You act as the bridge between training and practice, ensuring that capability development stays aligned with the realities of production environments.
This is not about stepping away from engineering. It is about staying close to how engineering is actually done, while scaling your impact through the people you develop. The people who tend to thrive in this role are experienced engineers who have worked in modern software delivery environments, understand how teams build and ship products in practice, and naturally gravitate towards mentoring and enabling others. They are less focused on theory and more interested in what actually works in real delivery contexts.
You don’t need to come from a formal teaching background. You do need the ability to translate complex engineering experience into clear, structured learning that engineers can apply immediately. What makes this different is the dual focus: you are both shaping how engineers are developed and staying connected to how they perform in live environments, ensuring continuous feedback between learning and real-world execution. If you’re at a point where you enjoy developing others and shaping engineering capability, but don’t want to move away from modern engineering practice altogether, this offers a way to do both and to have a wider impact than either alone.
Skills & Experience Required
- Deep experience with AWS or Azure and core cloud services (compute, networking, storage, IAM).
- Hands‑on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and containerised architectures (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices including observability, automation, security, and modern release workflows.
- Comfortable mentoring, teaching, or guiding engineers, with exposure to AI‑augmented development and modern cloud tooling.
