Remote (UK) ASAP Start Outside IR35 ⏳ Initial 3 months (likely extension)

We’re supporting a consultancy delivering a major engineering transformation programme across a complex SaaS and Microsoft CRM platform estate. They’re looking for a Principal-level Engineer who can combine strong modern .NET engineering experience with AI-assisted development practices to materially improve engineering velocity, developer productivity and software delivery. This is a highly hands-on role focused on modern engineering workflows, AI harnesses/tooling, and improving how teams build, test, review, and deploy software at scale.

What you’ll be doing

  • Driving AI-assisted engineering practices across delivery teams
  • Building and improving AI harnesses, agentic workflows, and developer tooling around LLMs
  • Improving engineering velocity, SDLC maturity, and developer experience
  • Working across a distributed microservices/platform ecosystem
  • Introducing automation into testing, code review, documentation, and delivery workflows
  • Helping shape architectural decisions and engineering standards
  • Coaching teams on modern software engineering and AI-native development practices

What they’re looking for

  • Strong experience as a Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer
  • Deep hands-on .NET / C# experience
  • Strong cloud experience across AWS or GCP
  • Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tooling such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor etc
  • Experience building AI tooling, harnesses, MCP tooling, RAG systems, or agentic workflows
  • Strong CI/CD, DevOps, and engineering automation experience
  • Comfortable working closely with engineering leadership and product stakeholders
