Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Location: West Midlands (travel to various project sites required)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Our client, a respected contractor working across major infrastructure projects, is seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This role offers excellent exposure to the construction and civil engineering sector, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment schemes.
This is an ideal first role for a graduate looking to develop a long-term career in quantity surveying. You’ll gain hands-on experience in cost management, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting, while working alongside an experienced and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
- Supporting the management of project costs from start to finish
- Preparing and monitoring valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers to support procurement
- Working closely with project teams on live construction sites
- Maintaining accurate commercial and contract documentation
- Contributing to regular financial and progress reports
About You
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar (or graduating soon)
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
- Full UK driving licence or willingness to travel to sites
- Placement or work experience in construction/civil engineering
- Familiarity with NEC or other standard construction contracts
- Interest in achieving professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, etc.)
