The City of Kettering’s Public Service Department is currently seeking a Full‑Time Project Manager to administer and oversee all capital improvement projects associated with city facilities, parks, and other city-owned properties. The Project Manager will plan, organize, design, supervise, and review contractor work on construction projects, estimate costs, maintain budgets, and manage the workflow of the Capital Improvement Plan Program.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Assist with the preparation of the annual capital improvement budget and forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies;
- Utilize CAD design software to design plans for various construction projects;
- Serve as the city’s construction project manager on all CIP projects;
- Provide overall management of various public infrastructure projects;
- Assist managers and others to ensure that appropriate safety training and equipment is provided to crews;
- May serve as “Safety Coordinator” for the Public Service Department and/or the city;
The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of modern methods and techniques used in the design, construction, and inspection of public infrastructure projects and practice effective supervision. They must be able to read, interpret, and work from technical sketches, construction documents, and maps (both paper and digital) and possess strong oral and written communication skills to maintain effective relationships with employees, city officials, contractors, and the public. The candidate should possess substantial supervisory experience and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Civil/Construction Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent training and experience in a related field. Thorough knowledge and experience with CAD design software is required.
