Are you a passionate and adaptable Maths Teacher ready to make a real impact? We’re seeking a committed educator to join an Alternative Provision / PRU in Thurrock in a full-time, permanent role starting immediately. This is a chance to teach small classes, form meaningful relationships, and help students rediscover their potential through creative, focused learning.

In this role, you’ll work with students who have found mainstream education challenging—many with social, emotional, or behavioural needs. Your ability to differentiate lessons, support emotional development, and model consistency will be key to their success. Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach maths across KS3 and KS4, adapting content to meet individual needs.
  • Create a positive and structured learning environment using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, real-world lessons that build confidence and numeracy.
  • Track and report on student progress, contributing to EHCP reviews and learning plans.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and external support staff.
  • Promote resilience, problem-solving, and student engagement.
  • Support whole-school values and behaviour expectations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or relevant teaching qualification (essential).
  • Experience teaching in a PRU, SEMH, or alternative setting (preferred).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a flexible, creative teaching approach.
  • Excellent behaviour management and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centred learning.
  • A calm, compassionate demeanour with high expectations for all students.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
