- Purpose of the Position
The main purpose of this role is to plan, execute, and close projects ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The successful candidate will be the central coordinator, managing resources, risks, and team communication to achieve specific organisational goals and deliver value to stakeholders.
The Underground Cable Project Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of Omexom High Voltage (HV) underground cable projects for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSE) projects and other UK utility clients.
The role will be to lead projects from contract award through design coordination, procurement, construction, cable installation, jointing, testing, commissioning and handover.
The Project Manager will ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards while maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the growth of Omexom's Underground Cable business.

- Create timelines and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Lead, motivate and manage the team while serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.
- Ensure the final deliverables meet the required standards and client expectations.

Person Specification
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, or relevant experience.
- Understanding of the construction process involved in HV Underground Cable.
- Certifications to include Project Management Professional (APM), PRINCE2, or similar.
- Proven experience in planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects in an engineering sector.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, allocate resources, and mitigate risks.
- Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and team motivation skills to lead your project.
- Experience using project management tools (eg. Jira, MS Project) and software packages.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working on SSE Framework projects.
- Knowledge of transmission projects at 132k V, 275k V and 400k V.
- SMSTS.
- NEC Project Manager Accreditation or equivalent experience.
- First Aid at Work.
