The Health & Safety Advisor will support the delivery of high standards of health, safety, and wellbeing across projects within the region. This operational role involves providing practical support to site teams, ensuring compliance with legislation and company procedures, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The role requires regular travel to project sites (approximately 70–80%) and close collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, and SHEQ colleagues to ensure that health and safety objectives are met and continuously improved.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide visible and positive leadership on health and safety matters across all sites.
- Follow the Omexom Management System and monitor compliance with ISO 45001 standards.
- Provide day-to-day H&S support across allocated live projects, rotating as needed.
- Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, and construction phase plans.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and record observations; report findings and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support the investigation of incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and lessons learned are recorded on IMS.
- Ensure site inductions are carried out and records maintained.
- Support the collection and reporting of H&S data, including KPIs and incident statistics, for internal and external reporting.
- Ensure subcontractor RAMS reviews are carried out and documented and provide support as requested.
- Support training delivery and awareness of Omexom and client H&S procedures.
- Assist in the development and review of Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and any other H&S documentations as required.
- Provide advice on the correct use of PPE, tools, and equipment, and ensure unsafe practices are challenged and corrected.
- Attend meetings as requested and required.
- Encourage reporting of hazards and unsafe conditions and support the implementation of preventative measures.
- Undertake other related duties as appropriate and directed by the Line Manager.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
- Sound knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and CDM 2015.
- Experience in a site-based H&S role within construction, utilities, or infrastructure.
- Experience developing and reviewing RAMS and Construction Phase Plans.
- Recognised training in accident/incident investigation.
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001.
- HND/Degree in a relevant discipline or professional membership (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM).
- IRCA Internal Auditor.
