To support the project management, cost control, and resource tracking of the Omexom Design Business Unit by planning and producing schedules that integrate effectively with those developed by the Operational Business Units and wider Omexom Business.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Creating, updating, and managing design programmes using Primavera P6.
- Responding to emerging issues and adapting plans accordingly.
- Liaising with internal design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate phases of design development.
- Producing tender programmes to support bid submissions.
- Reviewing and administering design schedules to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Collaborating closely with construction, project management, and technical teams.
- Monitoring project progress to ensure alignment with agreed timescales and cost plans.
- Forecasting resource requirements while maintaining a holistic overview of the Omexom Design Business Unit.
- Evaluating the impact of design changes on programme delivery.
- Acting as a role model by demonstrating Omexom’s Company Values in day-to-day activities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong mix of technical planning expertise, sector-specific experience, and a collaborative approach to project delivery. They will be able to work independently whilst enjoying being part of a friendly, ambitious and growing team.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience working on major projects within the energy sector, ideally in electricity transmission.
- High proficiency in Primavera P6, including:
- Resource and cost loading
- Resource and Financial forecasting
- Generating graphical and tabular progress reports
- Strong planning and scheduling expertise.
- Ability to build programmes from first principles and critically assess supplier schedules.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts and their application to programming.
- Familiarity with CDM regulations and their influence on project timelines.
- Competent report writing and presentation skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Strong IT proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and Excel (including use of functions, data lookups, filtering, manipulation, and summarisation).
Desirable Criteria
- Significant construction experience on large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of Construction Management principles.
- Previous experience in planning for design teams or functions.
