A substation commissioning technician is responsible for the preparation and carry out basic testing, inspection, and work with commissioning engineer in commissioning of electrical substations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help commissioning engineers to develop commissioning plans and procedures for substation projects.
  • Help commissioning engineers to coordinate with the project team to ensure that construction activities meet the project requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and testing to verify the substation equipment meets the required specifications.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures and regulations are followed during the commissioning process.
  • Perform basic plant testing required in commissioning process.
  • Basic Protection and Control testing is not mandatory but desirable.
  • Follow the substation commissioning schedule.
  • Perform troubleshooting to resolve basic issues identified during the commissioning process.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the commissioning process, including test reports, inspection reports, and equipment manuals.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The substation commissioning technician must have a basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and be familiar with substation equipment and systems. They should have excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications
