This role focuses on designing and delivering practical technical skills training within the Omexom Institute for our Overhead Line (OHL) business units. The position involves the design, development, and delivery of skills training and the assessment of employees and subcontractors on a regular basis. This will take place mainly within our training centre in Castleford, but the role will also require visits to other locations across the UK & ROI. The successful candidate must be highly experienced in Overhead Line works.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Devise technical training programmes according to organisational requirements.
- Support the accreditation of programmes by external bodies (e.g., EU Skills).
- Design and develop skills training areas, including sourcing equipment and resources.
- Produce training schedules, plans, and classroom agendas.
- Determine course content according to objectives.
- Execute training sessions and workshops in groups or individually.
- Arrange for and conduct on-site training when needed.
- Design, conduct, and collect assessment and competency records.
- Determine overall effectiveness of programmes and implement improvements.
- Work with the Omexom Institute business unit team to deliver pre‑employment assessment and induction processes for all Omexom employees within OHL‑related business units and pre‑contract subcontractors.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure AOPs (Approved Operating Practices) and assessments are completed for technical employee competencies and training courses.
- Support the Omexom Institute team to develop, deliver, and communicate training plans and competency profiles for technical roles across the Company.

Person Specification
The jobholder must be a self‑starter with the enthusiasm, motivation, and initiative to succeed in this role and possess:
- Demonstrable extensive experience working in an Overhead Line environment.
- A relevant electrical site safety qualification.
- Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools used in the electrical power engineering industry.
- Experience in designing technical course content.
- In‑depth industry knowledge.
- An assessor qualification gained within the power industry.
- A strong ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Good decision‑making and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to the role, including working away from home when required.
- Highly motivated with strong levels of accountability and ownership.
- Access to suitable transport or a company car, with flexibility to travel throughout the UK & ROI when required.
