The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager within Omexom’s GGP Business Unit. The role involves assisting with commercial and contractual aspects of projects, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and other project team members. The role also includes collaboration with departments such as Planning, Finance, and Engineering.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Support the creation of a safe working environment.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Help prepare subcontract documentation under supervision.
- Assist in commercially managing subcontractor work packages, including interim assessments, change management and final account.
- Support the preparation and issuance of commercial notices.
- Assist in managing contract changes and preparing Compensation Event Quotations.
- Help prepare and submit monthly applications for payment.
- Work with site and engineering staff to ensure accurate site records.
- Assist in preparing monthly reports, CVRs, and cash flow forecasts.
- Support the development and maintenance of cost plans and subcontractor liabilities.
- Help identify and mitigate project risks.
- Attend project meetings and take minutes as required.
- Assist in preparing initial project budgets and maintaining them throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the preparation of valuation claims and labour resource schedules.
- Contribute to final account documentation.
- Use company IT systems for document control and communication.

Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: Working towards or recently completed a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Basic understanding of NEC contracts and construction law
- Strong communication, numerical, and IT skills (Microsoft Office proficiency)
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
- Desirable: Previous internship or placement in a construction or engineering environment
- Familiarity with energy sector projects (substations or OHL)
- Working towards RICS or CICES membership
- CSCS card
