Engineering Design Manager will be responsible for the management of the Omega mobile crushing & Screening range, enabling us to exceed through the development of our products in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Line Leaders, Product Mangers, Sales, Service and Marketing to feed into development of design specifications for new products and modifications to existing products.
- Manage the development and introduction of these new products into market.
- Identify and implement cost effective design and technology alternatives to resolve field issues, ensuring appropriate maintenance and ongoing improvements to current product range.
- To develop our internal design and development processes to minimize time to market.
- Work with the other Engineering Managers within the Propel group to ensure consistent application of Group standards in the areas of QFD, FMEA, Design for Manufacture, Prototype Development and Field Testing.
- Ensure product complies with all applicable safety standards (e. g. Machinery Directive) and reflects requirements safe build processes.
- Ensure use of measurable standards and performance for function and reliability.
- Implement established Group engineering standards and associated IT systems to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent.
- Drive standardisation of components and sub-assemblies across Material Processing group.
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by Management from time to time.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering.
- Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in both strategic and tactical decision making.
- A proven and considerable track record in the design, development and successful launch to market of construction machinery.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Creativity and innovative thinking.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Familiarity with CAD (preferably Solid Works) and PLM/PDM.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Able to undertake extensive travel both within UK and overseas.
- Hold a full driver’s license.
- Proven experience in leading large or cross functional teams.
- Track record of successfully operating in a matrix environment, influencing others to drive results.
- Experience of industrial plant and equipment in a high-volume production environment.
- Working knowledge of current Health and Safety & Environmental Legislation.
- Working knowledge of relevant ISO standards
