We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing site in Wrexham. Operating within a high-volume, fast-paced environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring production equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving and working as part of a collaborative shift team.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
- Support production teams to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks in line with site schedules.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards.
- Accurately record maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with equipment improvements, breakdown root cause analysis, and minor project work.
- Work effectively on a continental shift pattern, handing over clearly between shifts.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (or equivalent).
- Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment (food, FMCG, or similar highly regulated sector preferred).
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- A proactive, team-focused approach with good communication skills.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and make sound engineering decisions.
