Our client is a dynamic, technology-led market leader in the provision of soft services across the UK and Ireland.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive profitable and sustainable growth across the Retail & Destinations sector

You will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, developing senior client relationships, leading complex tenders and negotiations, and ensuring a seamless transition from contract award through to mobilisation and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities – Business Development Director

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy for the Retail & Destinations sector, identifying new business opportunities and driving revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across retail, leisure, visitor attractions, shopping centres and destination venues.
  • Generate and convert new business through networking, referrals, industry events and targeted business development activity.
  • Lead client meetings, site visits and solution development, creating tailored service proposals that meet customer requirements.
  • Manage the full tender and bid process, working closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure competitive and deliverable solutions.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, secure contract awards and support successful mobilisation and implementation.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, CRM records and revenue forecasts, ensuring delivery against KPIs and growth targets.
  • Act as a sector specialist, providing market intelligence, competitor insight and supporting marketing and brand awareness initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience – Business Development Director

  • Must have come from a cleaning/soft services background
  • Proven experience originating and closing complex, high-value or multi-site business opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning operations, labour-led costing models, TUPE, mobilisation and service delivery.
  • Knowledge of health & safety, sustainability and operational compliance requirements.
  • Excellent consultative sales, negotiation, presentation and relationship management skills.
  • Experience managing sales pipelines, CRM systems and forecasting processes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience assessing margin, contract risk and pricing strategies.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with credibility at executive level.
