We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer for a client based in ST Asaph. This role is about taking a hands-on approach to developing our Quality team in order to support our business as it grows. You will support operational teams in getting things right first time, delivering on time in full (OTIF) to customers, while adhering to the relevant quality standards.
42.5 hours per week Mon-Fri with 30 min break each day.
Role Responsibilities – Quality Engineer- Ensure first-off parts are to drawing & specification; record and pass off as appropriate.
- Complete certificates of conformity and submit to clients.
- Gather information required for and complete 8Ds, SCARs and other structured problem-solving techniques and root-cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys) as requested by Manager.
- Suggest and implement appropriate countermeasures (e.g. Poke Yoke) to help reduce PPM defect rate.
- Gather information, complete, and submit for approval PPAPs (incl APQPs, PFMEAs) as requested by Manager.
- Patrol shop floor to seek assurance that products being manufactured and packed conform with customers’ requirements.
- Ensure packaging intended for shipping to customers is correctly labelled and that parts are correctly packed, in line with packing specifications, where these exist.
- Conduct system audits as per schedule matrix.
- Draw up initial work instructions and adjust/improve as necessary, and communicate/train the operations team.
- Monitor and ensure correct use of WIs on shop floors.
- Manage and execute CMM report requests from customers/management, as directed.
- Suggest, and implement as directed, continuous improvement ideas, from a quality perspective.
- Suggest, and implement as directed, cost-saving & scrap reduction ideas.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, in line with 5S protocols.
- Fully support production supervisors that the departments 5S is maintained.
- Liaise with the technical department on any process issues arising on shift.
- It is essential that you have experience with ISO 9001 (Experience with IATF would be a big plus).
- Demonstrable Lean/Six Sigma experience would be an advantage.
- Be able to contribute to the PPAP process.
- Be able to use a variety of measuring equipment including; micrometer, vernier and CMM.
- HSE qualification is desired but not essential e.g. IOSH Managing Safely.
- Have an eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to communicate well at all levels including customers.
- Courage and ability to stand firm on issues critical to our success in improving delivery of conforming products to customers, on time and in full (OTIF).
- Flexibility to visit customers and suppliers, as well as our other plants, when required.
