We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team on a 4-month contract basis. This role is outside IR35, making it well suited to experienced contractors operating via a limited company.
This position is mechanically biased, with a strong focus on maintaining, repairing, and optimising mechanical systems, particularly valves and associated equipment, while still supporting electrical fault-finding where required.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across site equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose and repair faults with a mechanical bias, including valves, pipework, and mechanical assemblies.
- Support electrical fault finding on control systems, motors, and associated equipment.
- Strip down, repair, and rebuild mechanical components including valves and associated systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrades of plant equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with site teams to optimise performance and reliability.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on experience working with valves, pumps, and mechanical repairs.
- Basic to intermediate electrical fault-finding capability.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Experience working in maintenance environments with a focus on reliability and uptime.
- Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
- IPAF (Powered Access Licence) Confined Space Certification.
- Experience in process, industrial, or heavy engineering environments.
- Background in continuous improvement or reliability engineering.
