We are recruiting for a Head of Maintenance role for a client, based at their London Biggin Hill Airport location. Our client specialises in the operating and maintenance of helicopters used for various services, including Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, Aerial Surveillance, Training, and VIP Charter. Our client also sells helicopters and parts for them.
Due to internal succession, our client is seeking a new Head of Maintenance to join the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the MD. The Head of Maintenance is a UK CAA Nominated Post Holder position that provides crucial leadership for all maintenance activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing maintenance, modifications, and repair of Leonardo, Airbus, Bell, and Sikorsky helicopters.
- Managing the base managers and supporting them to effectively lead and motivate their teams.
- Working with maintenance planning and logistics teams to drive improvement in quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Communicating with clients and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contributing to and implementing the company’s strategy and plans.
Role Requirements:
- Ensuring that the MRO complies with all applicable Aviation Regulations at all times.
- Ownership and management of the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), including all relevant mandatory and/or supporting procedures and documentation.
- Ensuring that all facilities used for maintenance comply with applicable Aviation Regulations.
- Maintaining an active maintenance man-hour plan indicating sufficient competent staff for planning, performing, supervising, inspecting, and quality monitoring the MRO.
- Ensuring the MRO has the necessary equipment and tools to perform the approved scope of work.
- Reporting any conditions of the aircraft or component that may result in unsafe conditions affecting flight safety.
- Performing and documenting Risk Assessments where necessary, applying effective controls and/or mitigation.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience as a Shift Manager, Base Maintenance Manager, or Head of Maintenance.
- Experience within a Part 145 MRO environment and ability to hold the Regulatory Nominated Person responsibility.
- Excellent people skills and experience dealing with employees, customers, and peers.
- A background as a Part 66 B1.3, B2 Cat C rotary wing licensed aircraft engineer with demonstrable progression through leadership roles.
- Expert knowledge of Rotary Wing Aircraft Maintenance Management principles and practices.
- Practical application-level knowledge of ISO 9001 in the MRO environment.
- Practical application-level knowledge of Safety Management System principles and requirements in the MRO environment.
- Demonstrable people and cultural change management experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across all boundaries, both verbally and in writing.
