Location: Cheltenham

Salary: £44,000 - £48,000

Day Shift: 8am – 5pm (12.30pm finish on Friday)

Overview: To give direction and provide experience on coatings and corrosion protection systems. To provide competent inspection and quality surveillance of surface preparation and applications. To monitor full compliance with applicable standards, specifications and contractual requirements across all products and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as Coating Specialist on production methods
  • Solution development with direct liaison with paint suppliers and contractors
  • Review and interpret client and project coating specifications
  • Verify surface preparation methods and cleanliness grades
  • Inspect coating application activities and verify compliance with approved procedures
  • Measure and record wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT)
  • Identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions for continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports and photographic evidence
  • Support final acceptance, handover documentation and coating dossiers
  • Accept or reject surface preparation and coating work. Stop work where quality, safety, or specification compliance is compromised.
  • Sign off inspection and acceptance documentation within agreed limits of authority.

Requirements:

  • Experience in surface treatment and coating inspection.
  • Demonstrable experience inspecting industrial coating systems on steel and/or metallic substrates.
  • Ability to document Work Instructions for own area
  • Produce clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, applicators, and project teams.
  • Escalate quality or technical concerns in a professional and timely manner.
