Our client is an engineering technology company developing advanced electronic and software-controlled systems for use in harsh, high‐reliability environments. Their products operate in demanding conditions where robust testing and verification are critical to success.
This is a senior, hands‐on role focused on leading the development of Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop (HiL) capability and system verification strategy. You will take ownership of system-level testing, driving the design, development, and evolution of HiL simulation environments to validate hardware, firmware, and overall system behaviour across both new and existing products.
Working closely with cross‐functional engineering teams, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements, while also mentoring others and shaping best practice across verification activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and delivery of system-level verification strategies for embedded products
- Own and evolve Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop (HiL) simulation environments and test architecture
- Define and implement robust test frameworks, methodologies, and best practices
- Plan and execute verification activities across system and sub-system levels
- Develop advanced test scenarios and automated scripts to validate requirements
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test coverage, and verification evidence
- Combine physical hardware with simulated environments to validate real-world performance
- Lead fault investigation and root cause analysis, driving resolution with design teams
- Oversee test execution (automated and manual), ensuring quality and repeatability
- Produce high-quality verification documentation, including reports and sign-off evidence
- Support reliability, robustness, and FMEA-style analysis using test data insights
- Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and systems teams throughout development lifecycle
- Contribute to technical direction, mentoring, and continuous improvement within the team
- Ensure adherence to quality, configuration, and documentation standards
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Strong background in HiL-based system testing, systems integration, or embedded verification
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining HiL environments (e.g. NI, dSPACE, Speedgoat)
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or LabVIEW
- Experience developing automated test frameworks and scripting (e.g. Python)
- Solid understanding of embedded systems, control systems, and firmware behaviour
- Experience working in structured development environments (e.g. Git, CI workflows)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to diagnose complex system issues
- Experience operating at a senior level, ideally with leadership or mentoring responsibility
- Confident communicator, able to influence and collaborate across engineering disciplines
- 25 days holiday + public holidays
- Private healthcare (after probation)
- Life insurance
- Flexible working arrangements
- Ongoing professional development and training
- Collaborative, innovation-driven engineering culture
- Regular team and company events
