Some Hybrid, but you really want to lead teams on the sites around Yorkshire. Confidential Public Sector Service - Large Complex Organisation. Job Location: Lead One of the Largest Transport & Fleet Operations in the Region, West/South/East Yorkshire.

This is not just another senior transport management & leadership role! You will have to be available to start quickly! Waste and transport management would be a slam dunk in terms of experience. This is a senior leadership role running all of transport and fleet operations. You would be responsible for the people, budgets, legal compliance, strategy, safety, contracts, and future direction of all transport services.

We are seeking a senior transport, fleet, logistics, or operations leader to take ownership of a major fleet and transport regional Yorkshire operation, delivering critical services. Reporting directly into the Executive Team, you will lead a substantial Business Unit/operation with responsibility for fleet management, transport logistics, passenger transport services, compliance, asset management, procurement, maintenance, decarbonisation and operational performance. Operator licences, fleet compliance, passenger transport legislation, transport CPC requirements.

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates available immediately or at short notice for an interim, fixed-term or ongoing contract assignment.

The Opportunity: Group Head of Transport & Fleet Service

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading a large, safety-critical transport and fleet operation
  • Ensuring full compliance with transport, fleet, health & safety
  • Leading large operational teams through change and transformation
  • Managing up to 1000 vehicles and plant assets
  • Overseeing transport for around 3000 people in one area
  • Leading teams of managers and over 100 frontline team staff
  • Managing large budgets worth tens of millions of pounds
  • Managing contracts with more than 80 transport providers
  • Developing future fleet strategies, including electric vehicles and decarbonisation programmes
  • Focusing on fleet and workshop operational waste transport
  • Delivering strategic fleet and asset management programmes
