This is a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Technician position within a highly regarded global engineering and manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in ensuring production equipment and facilities operate reliably and efficiently, supporting continuous improvement and minimising downtime. Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, maintaining equipment, and contributing to projects that improve operational performance, safety, and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of production equipment (including bearings, conveyors, pneumatics, and associated systems)
- Support electrical engineers with basic fault finding on sensors, motors, and control panels
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
- Respond quickly to breakdowns and emergencies to minimise production disruption
- Manage and update technical documentation for machinery and production lines
- Support tooling activities, including tool setting and machine setup
- Work with workshop machinery such as lathes, milling machines, drills, and grinders
- Contribute to continuous improvement and maintenance reduction projects
- Use CMMS systems to record work, analyse trends, and improve equipment performance
- Propose and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety across production processes
Experience / Qualifications:
- Time-served apprentice or formally qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production maintenance environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Basic to intermediate electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, panels)
- Experience with tool setting and machine tool setup
- Familiarity with workshop machinery (lathes, milling, drilling, grinding)
- Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and analysis
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
