Role Overview

Our client, a growing provider of specialist technical and engineering services, is seeking an Area Sales Manager to support continued business growth across the Northwest. This is a field-based role focused on developing new business opportunities while managing and growing existing customer accounts. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, building long-term relationships, preparing quotations and proposals, and managing projects through the full sales cycle from initial enquiry to order placement. Reporting directly to the Operations/Sales Director, you will play a key role in driving revenue growth and delivering exceptional customer service. The role also includes a company electric vehicle (EV) and offers excellent opportunities for professional development within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and secure new business opportunities within your assigned territory and market sectors.
  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts, driving repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Build, maintain and develop a robust sales pipeline.
  • Generate accurate quotations and proposals tailored to customer requirements.
  • Manage opportunities through the complete sales process from enquiry through to order placement.
  • Conduct customer meetings, site surveys and supplier visits where required.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including customer activity, quotations, opportunities and orders.
  • Monitor performance against agreed sales targets and KPIs.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, updates and performance reports to management.
  • Work closely with technical support, service and administration teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered successfully.
  • Represent the business professionally during customer visits, meetings and industry events.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and health & safety requirements.

Key Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience within a Business Development, Area Sales, Technical Sales or Account Management role.
  • Strong track record of generating and converting new business opportunities.
  • Experience managing a sales territory and customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and managing a sales pipeline.
  • Well-organised with strong planning and time-management abilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and target-driven.
  • Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience within engineering, industrial equipment, technical services or a related sector would be advantageous.
