Overview: Responsible for managing the work orders across the machine shop including creating, reviewing, monitoring progress with production and workcentre capacity. Role includes an active involvement with the reviewing, setting and ongoing maintenance of the inventory model linking closely with the wider planning team and also in calculating requirements for new projects.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure business system (MRP signals and/or Cognos reports currently) are actioned daily and both machines and workcentres planned effectively to meet the demand requirements.
- Review the production plan with the production team to aim to achieve a balance of productivity and efficiency with delivering what is required when it is needed.
- Ensure all shortages are reviewed, progressed and escalated accordingly with the machine shop planning administrator, and seek to identify the root cause analysis for these shortages.
- Be able to discuss with production to jointly deliver the daily / weekly production plans and monitor daily performance against plan.
- Run reports to highlight capacity issues and present options with production team and team leader to resolve capacity constraints.
- Monitor on time delivery of all work orders and expedite and reschedule open manufacturing orders to meet production planning requirements.
- Actively participate in the weekly item setting review sessions (IC Watch list reviews) and the regular inventory quality management (IQM) review process together with the rest of the planning team.
- Support new production introduction projects by calculating & presenting machine shop production scenarios to provide recommendations of how best to deliver the projects.
- Work together within the Planning team and potentially other departments (Goods Receiving (GRB) and the Distribution Centre) to optimise the batch sizes and MOQs throughout machine shop.
Requirements:
- Relevant Planning experience in a production environment
- Experience with MRP Tools & processes
- Experience analysing large datasets to identify supply, demand, and inventory trends that inform planning decisions (desirable)
- Hands on experience using data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel modelling) to improve forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency (desirable)
