Are you an electrically biased Electro-Mechanical Engineer looking for a varied, hands-on role where you'll be involved in everything from machine build and electrical assembly through to commissioning and customer installation?
The Role
Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for the electrical assembly, wiring, testing and commissioning of bespoke machinery, whilst also supporting the mechanical build and final assembly where required. The role is predominantly electrically focused, making it ideal for an engineer with a strong electrical background who also enjoys the practical aspects of machine assembly and commissioning. In addition to workshop-based duties, you'll occasionally travel to customer sites across the UK (and occasionally overseas) to install, commission and service machinery, providing first-class technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Assembly & Wiring
- Build and wire electrical control panels and operator consoles.
- Wire bespoke machinery from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Install motors, drives, sensors, relays, switches and associated control equipment.
- Ensure all electrical work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Machine Build & Testing
- Support the mechanical assembly and final build of bespoke machinery.
- Work from engineering drawings, assembly instructions and technical documentation.
- Carry out electrical testing, fault-finding and machine calibration.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and electro-mechanical faults throughout the build process.
- Commissioning & Customer Support
- Commission machinery within the workshop prior to customer acceptance.
- Install and commission equipment at customer sites.
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Provide professional technical support while building strong customer relationships.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience working within machinery build, automation, special purpose machinery or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical control systems.
- Excellent electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Basic mechanical assembly experience.
- Good IT skills for completing service reports and documentation.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK with occasional overseas travel.
