The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for multi-skilled maintenance engineers with a strong background in packaging machinery to join a global manufacturing leader. This role has been created due to significant site expansion, automation, and investment, offering the opportunity to work in a highly automated, world-class production environment. You will be maintaining high-speed packaging lines producing globally recognised consumer products, within a large-scale facility employing hundreds of people. Key Responsibilities – Packaging Maintenance Focus
- Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on high-speed packaging machinery
- Fault find and repair across:
- Filling machines
- Sealing, labelling and coding equipment
- Conveyors and palletisers
- Wrapping and automated packaging systems
- Diagnose and resolve faults on:
- Electrical systems (sensors, drives, controls, PLCs)
- Mechanical systems (bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts)
- Conduct machine inspections, reporting on:
- Equipment condition
- Performance issues
- Opportunities for reliability improvements
- Support and deliver continuous improvement projects, including Packaging Line Optimisation
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely using correct procedures and tools
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are particularly interested in engineers with direct experience in packaging or FMCG production environments.
- Multi-skilled (electrical & mechanical)
- Strong experience maintaining packaging machinery / high-speed production lines
- Ability to fault find using PLC diagnostics (no programming required)
- Experience working in: FMCG, Packaging / bottling / food production, Manufacturing or process environments
Qualifications:
Level 3 NVQ / Apprenticeship in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) OR HNC / HND in Engineering OR equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting
