An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Process Chemical Engineer to join one of the world's leading FMCG manufacturers at its flagship site in Shropshire. Following a significant multi-million-pound investment in new mixing, chemical processing, and manufacturing technology, we are looking for a technically strong engineer to become the site's Process Technology Lead and Subject Matter Expert for process optimisation and manufacturing performance.

This is a highly visible role where you'll influence how a major manufacturing operation performs, driving improvements in efficiency, quality, yield, reliability, and operational excellence across multiple production lines producing millions of units every week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical authority for manufacturing process performance and optimisation
  • Drive improvements in:
    • Process Capability & Yield
    • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
    • Waste Reduction
    • Process Reliability
    • Manufacturing Standards
    • Technical Capability Development
    • Clean-In-Place (CIP) Performance
  • Identify and deliver solutions to improve throughput, product quality, energy efficiency, and plant performance
  • Reduce product giveaway, downtime, and process variation
  • Coach and develop production teams in manufacturing best practices
  • Improve plant availability and manufacturing capacity
  • Support new product introductions and process validation activities
  • Lead CIP optimisation projects, reducing water and chemical consumption while improving cleaning effectiveness
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Continuous Improvement teams

Experience/Qualifications

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience within a manufacturing or process industry environment
  • Strong knowledge of process optimisation and manufacturing performance improvement
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience improving process capability, yield, efficiency, or reliability
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with Operations, Engineering, and Quality functions

Desirable Experience:

  • Food & Beverage or FMCG manufacturing
  • Blending, mixing, or thermal processes
  • Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies
