Role Overview – Fabricator

Are you a skilled fabricator or fitter with strong hands-on ability and a passion for precision engineering? Our client, a leading aerospace engineering organisation, is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator / Fitter to join their team. This role focuses on the manufacture, inspection, and assembly of aircraft components, supporting both prototype development and in-service maintenance.

Working in a highly regulated aviation environment, you will play a key role in ensuring aircraft safety, quality, and compliance, contributing directly to bespoke engineering solutions across civil and military applications.

Key Responsibilities – Fabricator

  • Manufacture detailed components from sheet metal in line with engineering drawings and aviation standards.
  • Inspect parts supplied by subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Carry out structural repairs to aircraft using sheet metal and composite methods.
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams on prototype and modification projects.
  • Support hangar operations, including aircraft handling and general workshop duties.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, airworthiness, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in line with best practice principles.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively depending on project requirements.

Key Experience & Qualifications – Fabricator

  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Fabrication or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in sheet metal work, fabrication, mechanical fitting, or similar hands-on engineering roles.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical data.
  • Strong manual skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of aircraft fasteners, riveting, and bonding techniques.
  • Experience working with composites.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
