The Bid Manager is responsible for supporting bid strategy, processes and team activity to secure new business and retain existing contracts through high-quality, winning tender submissions. Working on behalf of a leading Facilities Management services provider, the role will focus on opportunities across Facilities Management, Security, Cleaning and Events sectors. The successful candidate will manage the full bid lifecycle from opportunity identification through to submission and post-bid review, while developing compelling win strategies, leading a high-performing team and driving continuous improvement across the bid function.
Key Responsibilities – Bid Manager
- Bid Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and implement bid strategies aligned with business objectives, sector priorities and growth plans.
- Proactively identify and shape opportunities across Facilities Management, Security, Cleaning and Events sectors.
- Partner with Commercial, Operations and Executive Leadership teams to develop growth strategies and market positioning.
- Lead bid/no-bid decision-making processes, ensuring focus on opportunities with the highest probability of success.
- Support business development activities through market intelligence, competitor analysis and customer insight.
- Contribute to long-term business planning through pipeline analysis and opportunity forecasting.
- Manage the full bid lifecycle from qualification through to submission and post-bid review.
- Lead bid kick-off meetings, strategy reviews, executive reviews and submission sign-off processes.
- Ensure all submissions meet company standards for compliance, quality and commercial robustness.
- Develop compelling win strategies and customer-focused value propositions.
- Ensure bid responses clearly differentiate the business from competitors.
- Challenge and improve submission quality through robust review processes.
- Lead, manage and develop the bid management team to create a high-performance culture.
- Establish clear objectives, development plans and succession planning initiatives.

- Work closely with Finance and Commercial teams to develop competitive and profitable solutions.
- Review pricing strategies and commercial proposals to ensure alignment with win strategies and customer expectations.

- Ensure commercial solutions balance profitability with customer requirements.
- Stakeholder Management
- Establish strong relationships with senior leaders across Operations, Finance, HR, Commercial and Marketing functions.
- Build credibility and trust with customers, procurement stakeholders and key decision-makers.
- Facilitate effective collaboration across departments to ensure successful bid delivery.
- Take ownership of key bid function performance metrics and reporting.
- Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Lead the ongoing development of CRM, bid management and content management systems.
- Maintain a robust bid knowledge library, case study repository and content management framework.
- Identify opportunities to improve bid quality, efficiency and win rates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across the bid function.
Qualifications & Experience – Bid Manager
- Experience in bid, tender or proposal management.
- Experience in a senior management role leading teams and influencing stakeholders at a senior level.
- Proven leadership of a complex bid or tender function within a multi-sector or B2B environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience influencing pricing strategies and contractual terms.
- Demonstrable track record of improving win rates and bid performance.
- Experience using CRM and bid management systems, ideally Salesforce.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with delivery in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across technical, operational and commercial audiences.
- Experience within Facilities Management, Security, Cleaning or related service sectors (desirable).
