Lead Manufacturing Engineering (Composites) – Gloucestershire – Permanent position – Aerospace/Advanced Manufacturing
Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stand-out aerospace engineering business as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer in the development of aerospace components of a composite nature. As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you\’ll need to possess both understanding of composite materials and their properties and also have a strong manufacturing background including process and manufacturability improvements. You\’ll need to be able to demonstrate key experience with composite materials, with experience in carbon composites being highly desirable.
Duties
- Authoring and approving manufacturing processes and process specifications
- Lead on carbon composite and resin transfer molding processes. (Team of 3)
- Be an engaging, supportive and motivational leader to a small but growing team of carbon composite manufacturing engineers.
- Champion and in some cases lead root cause analysis activities across the manufacturing.
- Creating and developing production techniques from raw material to finished product.
- Review and be the responsible approver of manufacturing work instructions.
- Provide training and support to manufacturing operatives to support changes in SOPs
- Establishing control plans and the means for data collection to allow monitoring, gating and analysis of critical input variables at defined control points in the manufacturing process.
- Be a key signatory and approver for business procedures and documentation.
- Actively contribute to the improvements in key manufacturing metrics such as Throughput, Yield, Cycle Time & Defects-Per-Unit.
Background
- Strong background in carbon composite manufacture, resin transfer molding and NDT techniques.
- BSc/MSc/HND (or Level 6 equivalent)
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering function.
- An understanding of engineering statistics
- Influential to stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with CAD packages
- Knowledge of 3D printing from CAD and part production.
