In this pivotal role, you will leverage your strong background in PLC programming, process automation, and production engineering to design, implement, and continuously enhance automated systems that boost efficiency, quality, and output in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:- Design and implement automated processes to optimise production efficiency and throughput.
- Analyse existing production processes to identify and apply the most effective automation technologies.
- Diagnose and resolve faults in automated production processes and equipment swiftly and effectively.
- Manage project budgets, spare parts, and associated expenses.
- Partner with Production Engineering and Maintenance teams to implement automated processes and ensure smooth, stable handover to production operations.
- Drive continuous development and improvement of production systems, processes, and machine performance.
- Lead and support process improvements through structured improvement plans.
- Propose and implement efficiency enhancements for machines and production processes.
- Monitor performance and task Production Engineers with targeted improvements on the production line.
- Plan optimal process flows and operator work methods to maximise output without compromising quality.
- Set clear targets for project activities and rigorously track benefits and outcomes.
- Advanced PLC Programming and Fault-Finding expertise (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Keyence, etc.) – ideally qualified to EAL / City & Guilds level or equivalent.
- Proven track record in implementing and maintaining PLC systems and automated production processes in a manufacturing setting.
- Solid knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems commonly used in production environments.
- Strong logical approach to problem solving and root cause corrective action (RCCA).
- Familiarity with formal problem-solving methodologies (e.g., SGA, DMAIC, 7-step, PDCA, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram).
- Discretionary annual Bonus 7.5% up to 5.5% employer contribution.
