We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a specialist industrial manufacturing site in Heanor on an initial 3-month contract. Working on a permanent late shift, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of production and process equipment including conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and associated mechanical systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a unique and highly specialised production environment, supporting the reliability and efficiency of critical plant machinery.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across site.
- Diagnose and repair faults on conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and associated equipment.
- Perform equipment installations, mechanical upgrades, and improvement work.
- Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site procedures.
Experience Required:
- Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter within manufacturing, process, heavy industry, recycling, aggregates, chemical, or similar environments.
- Strong fault-finding and repair skills across rotating and conveying equipment.
- Experience with pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
